Esperanza Approved by Singapore’s Ministry of Law to Issue and Trade ESPG Digital Gold
Group to make Singapore its digital gold trading and distribution hub, serving mass markets across Asia and the Middle East
Hong Kong, 2 October 2026
Esperanza¹ is pleased to announce that, from 1 October 2026, it is registered with Singapore’s Ministry of Law as a regulated dealer (registration no. PS20260001210) and is permitted to issue and trade ESPG digital gold in Singapore. The regime covers dealing in precious metals and asset-backed tokens, and ESPE Gold (ESPG), Esperanza’s digital gold infrastructure, falls within the asset-backed token category. ESPG is designed as a digital instalment plan for gold: a holder of 100,000 ESPG units can redeem them for one 1 kg gold bar (99.99% purity). Esperanza will announce trading, settlement and gold redemption arrangements for ESPG in due course.
Esperanza has been registered with the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department as a Category A Dealer in Precious Metals and Stones since the first half of 2025, and is permitted to issue, redeem and trade precious-asset-backed instruments. ESPG is issued in Hong Kong under this framework.
Singapore’s regulated dealer regime focuses on preventing money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing. Under common law, securities and new digital commodities such as precious metals and asset-backed tokens fall into separate regulatory categories; ESPG, a digital commodity backed by physical gold, belongs to the latter. As a condition of registration, Esperanza will report its compliance measures to the Registrar every six months, and will apply the real-name verification, transaction monitoring and interception controls the group has built in Hong Kong.
Jeremy Teo, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer, said: “I am pleased to have led a group of Singapore investors into Esperanza, and we hold Hong Kong’s rule of law and its capacity for financial innovation in high regard. Today we have brought the digital gold issuance and trading system built in Hong Kong to Singapore, with permission to trade digital gold here. This is Hong Kong playing its role as a super-connector, taking Hong Kong’s financial innovation into the ASEAN market.”
Esperanza’s products include tokenised investments managed by Esperanza Securities² (professional investors only), with five concert investment projects completed, and tokenised experiences that the public can buy, trade and redeem, such as concert backstage access. Esperanza designs its investment and commodity tokens to be compatible with blockchain technology, preparing for future connections to central bank digital currencies, tokenised deposits, digital gold and other mediums of exchange, and for channelling international capital into national development projects.
Ronald Leung, Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Digital gold is long-term infrastructure. Using digitisation to address the low liquidity of traditional gold bar trading has drawn Middle Eastern investors and businesses to the question of whether physical gold bars can serve as a unit of settlement, for example as a means of payment when investing in other assets. ESPG now operates within regulated frameworks in both Hong Kong and Singapore. Over the longer term, the group will carefully assess the regulatory approach in each jurisdiction to decide where to hold its main gold reserves and which regulatory framework to commit to.”
